2011 Volkswagen Passat CC: drop dead sexy!

Earlier this year, Tom Williams reviewed the Volkswagen’s Passat CC and aside from a few minor quibbles, loved the machine. For 2011, VW has chosen not to mess with a great product. Instead, they have added an R-Line model to the flagship sedan. The R-Line package is a cosmetic addition rather than a performance enhancing change. That really isn’t a bad thing, as the 4 cylinder turbo version is plenty quick and is well mated to VW’s excellent dual clutch transmission. The R-Line package includes: 18″ R-Line wheels Darkened tail lights Front bumper and side skirts R-Line Sport steering wheel Aluminum door sill protectors with R-Line badging Exterior R-Line badging Unlike some manufacturer installed body kits that look tacked on and overly aggressive, the R-Line bits are subtle and tasteful. In fact, they look like they should have been there in the first place. Our tester was an R-Line model with technology package that adds in Navigation and a 30GB hard drive coupled with a wicked Dynaudio sound system that packs 600 watts and 10 speakers. Also included is a rear view camera, which is a great safety tool if you (or your neighbors) have small kids. With a base price of $39,275 CDN, our version would roll out of the showroom for $46,100 plus freight & pdi. [Show as slideshow] [View with PicLens] As Tom said, “This time around, VW has nailed it. The Passat CC is a true German sedan” I’ll take it one step further and say that I think the Passat CC is one of the sexiest sedans on the market today
