2007 Mazda3 Mazda has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it will be recalling more than 200,000 Mazda3 and Mazda5 vehicles from the 2007-2009 model year due to faulty power-assist steering pumps and pipes. The letter has not been posted on the NHTSA website but Mazda said that it notified the department of the recall on Thursday. The move to recall the model comes after NHTSA opened an investigation in June into power steering failures in the Mazda3 from 2007-2009 model years. NHTSA said that it received 33 complaints of power-assist steering failures in the vehicles and that the loss of steering was linked to three crashes.
